RAGAMUFFIN CATS - A CAT LIKE NO OTHER
Hi, I’m Anita Wollman, owner and operator of J&A Muffins. My Husband and I operate a small midwest cattery dedicated to breeding and raising RagaMuffins, an extra special bread of cat known for its lovable personality. Breeders and fanciers of the RagaMuffin believe this to be the finest pet available anywhere, and we totally agree. The RagaMuffin cat is a large "rag-type" cat selectively bred to produce kittens with a loving and docile disposition. They come in a rainbow of colors and patterns, so there's something for everyone. RagaMuffins are the only cat in the cat fancy where personality is a requirement in the breed standard.
All of my kittens are raised in my home with my family so I know all of their personalities inside and out. By the time they are a few weeks old I am able to tell you which kittens are more interested in cuddling or playing. Because RagaMuffin cats desire to cuddle and be loved they are companion cats who need to be a part of their family’s activities. If your family has a limited amount of time at home, a RagaMuffin is not the right cat for you.
RagaMuffin cats have beautiful medium-length coats. RagaMuffins possess wonderful qualities such as the loving and docile temperament that prompted Cat Fancy to describe them as "Gentle Giants." Typically, a kitten will grow to be an adult cat between 12 to 18 pounds and they have one of the longest life spans in the feline world. Other sources label RagaMuffin cats as the ‘teddy bear’ of the cat world. They love to follow you from room to room, will run to greet you when you come home, and many will come when called.
The coat of the RagaMuffin cat is similar to rabbit fur in density with longer length and is extremely mat resistant. It is the undercoat in many breeds that creates the mats. This problem undercoat has been bred out of the RagaMuffin to produce a beautiful, medium length coat that does not shed like you would expect. With a once a week combing, you will have a beautiful, low maintenance family member.
RagaMuffin cats are extremely intelligent. They rival the smartest dog breeds in the canine world. My kittens are taught the meaning of the word ‘no’ from early on so when they arrive at their new home, all you have to do is teach them the ‘no s’ of your home. RagaMuffin cats rarely extend their claws. They are considered ‘soft pawed,’ which means they will only extend their claws when falling or in danger. They are quite happy to use a scratching post with catnip, instead of furniture.
Our cats and cattery are registered with American Cat Fanciers Association ( ACFA). We are equally proud to be a member of the RagaMuffin Associated Group (RAG) and The RagaMuffin Kitten Breeders Society. We follow their code of ethics to produce the best RagaMuffin kittens available anywhere. If we do not have the kitten you are looking for, we will happily refer you to another RagaMuffin breeder in the hopes of finding you the "Purrrr"fect RagaMuffin kitten.
